Arithmasticks was developed by Kim Ridgeway for her daughter who
at the time was struggling to get to grips with addition and
subtraction.
Like many children Kim’s daughter was a visual/kinaesthetic learner who needed to be able to see how numbers worked in order to grasp the concept. Arithmasticks, which was recommended as a ‘good educational product’ in 2004 by the National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries, is a very tactile product that provides strong visual images to support young learners with number discovery, learning to count, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and missing numbers. It can also be used with older children to introduce the concepts of negative numbers, ratios and fractions. |

It is a simple but
clever resource that fills children with confidence and acts as a reliable
and striking visual facilitator for children with or without special
needs.
